1989-91 Stupa

The Stupa - a Buddhist shrine - is a recurring motif in Cluett’s work of the late 1980s and its image punctuates the photographs she took in Asia during this period. She made a group of works relating to the Stupa climaxing in her installation Blue Sirens at the Gardner Arts Centre in 1991, where a central watchtower dominated an army of jutting Styrofoam models spread across the floor.
