1980-84 - Nicola Jacobs Gallery

Nicola Jacobs Gallery represented Shelagh Cluett from 1979 until it closed in 1990. Cluett showed in the quitessential opening exhibition in 1979, had two solo shows in 1982 and 1984 and took part in the 'Summer Show' every year until 1987. Cluett's first visit to Burma and Thailand in 1984 informed a new development in her work which culminated in sculptures such as Burmese Nights (1984) and The Road to Mandalay (1984). Cluett's contributions to exhibitions during the early 1980s were numerous; her work entered a selection of public and private collections both in the UK and abroad, and received much press coverage including a feature in Vogue Magazine in November 1984.
